About FaceCalculators
Updated
FaceCalculators is a free face shape analysis tool built on MediaPipe Face Landmarker, a landmark detection system that maps 478 distinct points across the face to classify face shape with a confidence score of up to 96 percent. All processing runs client-side: your camera feed, uploaded photo, or entered measurements never leave your device. No images are transmitted to any server. No data is stored. The analysis runs in your browser and ends when the session closes. The site was built to make accurate face shape identification available without requiring an account, a subscription, or a data trade.
What We Cover
FaceCalculators covers eight face shapes: oval, round, square, heart, diamond, oblong, rectangle, and triangle. Each shape page documents the proportional characteristics that define it, the measurement ratios used in classification, and how the AI detector identifies it from facial geometry. The face shapes guide covers all eight with proportion data and style implications.
The editorial scope covers four style categories tied directly to face shape: hairstyles, glasses, sunglasses, and makeup and contouring. Each category produces guides that map specific style choices to specific face shapes based on proportion logic rather than trend reporting. The goal of every recommendation is to explain which proportion it addresses and why it works for that shape.
The site also covers body shape and outfit guidance as a separate content cluster, and maintains a dedicated men’s style track covering hairstyles and glasses for men by face shape.
The Team
FaceCalculators is written and maintained by six specialists, each covering a defined editorial beat.
- Morgan Reid, Face Shape Analyst. Morgan covers face shape identification, detection methodology, and the science behind facial proportion classification.
- Alex Vane, Style Correspondent. Alex covers hairstyles, glasses, sunglasses, and hats for women, organized by face shape.
- Sam Cross, Men’s Style and Grooming Correspondent. Sam covers hairstyles and glasses guides for men by face shape.
- Dara Ellis, Beauty and Celebrity Editor. Dara covers makeup, contouring, and celebrity face shape analysis.
- Mehmood Ikram, AI Systems Engineer and Automation Specialist. Mehmood built the MediaPipe landmark pipeline that powers the detection system. Covers AI fingerprinting, AR and VR integration, utility automation, and solution architecture alongside detection methodology explainers.
- Rena Solis, Body Shape and Outfit Stylist. Rena covers body shape identification and proportion-based outfit guidance.

How We Work
Every article begins with the detection tool’s classification framework as its foundation. Style recommendations derive from the same proportion logic the tool uses to classify face shapes. If the tool identifies a specific facial ratio, the editorial content explains what that ratio means for haircut structure, frame shape, or makeup placement. The framework and the content are the same system.
Articles are written by the correspondent assigned to that content category, cross-checked against the proportion criteria in the shape classification data, and reviewed for factual accuracy before publication. No style claim on this site is made without a proportion-based rationale traceable to the face shape classification system.
The full editorial process, correction policy, and update cycle are documented on the editorial standards page.
The Tool
The face shape detector uses MediaPipe Face Landmarker, an open-source machine learning framework developed by Google. The model maps 478 landmarks across the face. These are specific coordinate points that define facial geometry: forehead width, cheekbone width, jaw angle, chin shape, and the proportional relationships between them. More landmarks mean finer measurement precision and more accurate shape classification.
The tool supports three input modes: live camera, photo upload, and manual measurement entry. Client-side processing means the computation runs entirely on your own device. Your image data never reaches a server. The confidence score shown after analysis is the model’s probability estimate that its classification is correct, calculated from the geometry of all 478 mapped points.
FaceCalculators is expanding its coverage across shape and style intersections not yet fully documented. Existing pages are updated when the detection methodology or underlying proportion science changes. The date of last review is shown on each article.
